SOTEVirtuaalikirjasto – Procurement and Library Services for Scientific e-Resources in Health and Social Care

To support the ongoing development of skills and knowledge among health and social care professionals, SOTEVirtuaalikirjasto was established in Finland in 2020. It is owned by thirteen non-university wellbeing services counties and acts as the official procurement liaison for its owners. As a non-profit in-house company, SOTEVirtuaalikirjasto focuses on cost-effective joint procurement of social and health care information resources, negotiating and finalising joint license agreements on behalf of its customers.

Revenue

The company primarily acquires international scientific information resources. On average, the annual value of acquisitions is approximately 2.0 million euros, contributing to a total turnover of 2.4 million euros. Negotiations with suppliers and publishers take place annually or according to the agreement.

Services

Through the library service Virtuaalikirjasto Helli, customers can access a discovery and publication search tool, a library website, and a remote access system. Moreover, an Information Specialist service is available for service contract customers under a separate agreement.
